You can travel to Australia by plane, the flight time from Prague is approximately 19–22 hours. Due to the specific flight routes with layovers, the cheapest ticket cannot be found through automated booking tools and must be searched manually in a reservation system, ideally by an experienced ticket agent. Only two airlines offer the convenience of a single layover on the way to Australia – Emirates via Dubai in Saudi Arabia, and Korean Air via Seoul.
Australian seasons are the opposite of those in Europe and North America. In December, it’s hot and Australians spend Christmas on the beach, while July and August are considered “winter.” Summer starts in December, autumn in March, winter in June, and spring in September. In most parts of Australia, temperature differences are not extreme — even in Melbourne, the southernmost major mainland city, freezing temperatures are rare. Only the residents of Tasmania, located further south, know what a real winter feels like. As you move north, temperature differences decrease, and in the Darwin area, located in the monsoon belt, there are only two seasons — hot and humid, and hot and dry.
In the southeastern mountains of the country, there are excellent skiing conditions during the winter season. The inland is rather dry, with hot and arid days and unwelcoming cold nights. Here is a brief overview of the average maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall amounts (note: the temperatures listed are averages—even in Melbourne, there are many sunny summer days with temperatures exceeding 40°C).
