The weather on the island of Kos can be described very simply – hot and dry summers, beautiful and pleasantly mild spring and autumn, and warm winters.

The high annual average temperature of 25°C is largely due to the mild winters mentioned earlier. Even though it rains frequently, temperatures remain well above 10°C. True summer starts as early as May, with beautiful weather and high temperatures continuing through October. At the beginning and end of this period, temperatures range from 22–25°C, while in the peak of summer—July and August—they often exceed 30°C. Thanks to sea breezes and the Meltemi winds, even these high temperatures are quite tolerable. Adding to the pleasant atmosphere of the island of Kos is its fertile soil—thanks to winter rains and soil that can retain some moisture, the island stays lush and green, with rich vegetation and trees of all kinds.

If you’d prefer to avoid the high summer temperatures and enjoy not only swimming but also hiking and other outdoor activities, the best time to visit is at the end of the season. Kos is quieter, temperatures are pleasantly around 25°C, and the sea is still warm enough. If the sea is not your main priority, spring is the ideal time to visit—the entire island is beautifully green, everything is in bloom, and the air smells wonderfully fresh.
