Wedding in the Seychelles

The Seychelles are a paradise on earth in the Indian Ocean. Snow-white beaches, an azure sea, leaning palms, the unique double coco de mer – an absolute tropical paradise. Colonial architecture, mainly with British features. Two UNESCO sites (the Vallée de Mai nature reserve, the Aldabra coral atoll). Marine parks, coral reefs, lagoons, Seychelles pearls, a botanical garden, giant tortoises. Luxury hotels, yachts, a golf course, diving, snorkelling, fishing, parasailing, windsurfing. Folk music and the sega dance. Popular dishes include grilled fish and baked shellfish. Local specialities are the predatory Red Snapper and Millionaire’s Salad made from palm shoots.

Which area should you choose in the Seychelles?

• Mahé – the largest island, 30×5 km, with the capital Victoria and the international airport, forms the cultural centre of the archipelago. The island’s coastline is highly indented; visitors will find both long sandy beaches and picturesque corners here. The best-known beaches lie in the north-west and south-west of the island. The island is rich in tropical vegetation; the highest mountain is Morne Seychellois at 905 m above sea level. One curiosity is the Clock Tower, a likeness of London’s Big Ben. The crystal-clear sea with magnificent scenery and rich underwater life makes the island a literal tropical paradise.
• Praslin – the island, 4×10 km, lies 60 km from Mahé; the boat journey takes 60 minutes and the flight 15 minutes. In the middle of the island lies the Vallée de Mai national park – the only place in the world where palms grow bearing the largest coconut in the world, the Coco de Mer, shaped like a woman’s lap. In the west of the island, in Grand Baie, there is a magnificent long beach. The whole island, which can be driven round in an hour, is lined by a whole series of small enchanting beaches, hidden at first sight from tourists’ eyes. The island is surrounded by small islets and coral reefs, which creates ideal conditions for swimming and snorkelling. Praslin is a true tropical oasis of calm.
• La Digue – the island, 4×4 km, is still an unspoilt and very peaceful little island; the journey there takes 45 minutes by boat from the island of Praslin. On arrival you are overwhelmed by the azure sea, beautiful white-sand beaches surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and the characteristic boulders. Among the best-known and most visited places are the beaches of Grand Anse and Anse Cocos.
• The micro-islands, such as Sainte Anne, Desroches, Fregate or North and others, offer their visitors the privacy and discretion of a unique paradise in absolute calm and in the comfort of luxury.

The Seychelles can be reached by air; the flight time from Prague is approx. 11 hours.

The Seychelles enjoy a relatively steady tropical climate (ideal for a holiday all year round) with average daytime temperatures between 24 and 30 °C and plentiful showers, which are more of a pleasant break in the day. It is warmest from March to April, while the relatively coolest period of the year is the summer from July to August. Because of their proximity to the equator, the Seychelles lie outside the area where tropical storms usually occur.

It is generally the rule that a passport should still be valid for six months after the end of the trip. For the Seychelles, visa-free entry applies to all types of passport.

No vaccination is required for a trip to the Seychelles and health care is of a good standard.

The time difference is plus 2 hours during summer time and plus 3 hours during winter time.
