The civil wedding ceremony took place on the beach of the Gran Bahia Principe La Romana hotel in the Dominican Republic.
The newlyweds wrote to us: How did the idea of getting married abroad even come about? It all began at the start of planning a normal, conventional wedding here at home. But when we found out how many worries and how much money one day requires, my now husband came up with the suggestion: “Come on, let us fly off and get married somewhere else”. At first I looked at him quite shocked, but then when I started thinking about it I said to myself: “Why not”. At least it solved the problems of whom to invite to the wedding and whom not, who would come to the ceremony, who to lunch and so on… That set off our plan for a wedding abroad. I went through the internet looking for options on where and how a wedding abroad can be arranged. I came across your travel agency Mojecestovka s.r.o., where we very much liked the idea of flying to the Dominican Republic. One day of going round the register offices and the Regional Authority in České Budějovice was enough and the documents were sorted. All we then had to do was fine-tune certain details about the wedding, the decorations, the cake and the clothes. Once we had that settled, only one last very pleasant duty remained – packing the suitcases. After landing in the Dominican Republic we had a transfer to the hotel (resort) arranged, where they welcomed us with a large banner “Wedding Radka y Vlastimil” and, what is more, a beautiful young lady danced for us there to their national music. On arriving at the hotel they welcomed us with a welcome drink on which was written: Bride Radka and groom Vlastimil. On the wedding day I had my make-up and hair done by the hotel staff and the wedding could begin. The ceremony was planned for 5.30 pm local time. A driver of a lovely little buggy collected us at our room and took us to the resort pool, through which we had to pass to reach the beach. Here all the guests who happened to be spending time by the pool began to applaud us and call out “Good luck”, which was very lovely, all the more so given that we were here alone, without family and friends. Past the pool we came out onto the beach in front of the pier on which we had the ceremony. The ceremony was conducted in Spanish and there was an interpreter who translated everything into English for us. Since my husband cannot even say hello in English, he smiled throughout the ceremony and waited for my signal as to when to say our long-awaited YES 🙂 After the ceremony there was a photo session on the beach, then we returned to the pier, where a six-course wedding dinner had been prepared for us. During the dinner music we had arranged in advance played for us. The dinner brought our wedding day to a close.
Now that I am assessing our decision about a wedding abroad, I have to say I am very glad about how we decided. Since only the family knew about this idea, our friends were very surprised and agreed that we had solved it in the best way we possibly could. We are now planning a garden celebration for all our friends and family, and here we no longer have to worry about the question of whom to invite or not. What I would certainly also like to mention is the communication with your agency, which was absolutely professional; there was not a single problem, we communicated both by e-mail and by telephone, and despite my initial worries, or rather scepticism, about travel agencies, I now have to state that all my worries were unnecessary, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for everything you did for us and above all for a beautiful wedding in a beautiful country.
