The wedding ceremony took place in Cuba at the Melia Varadero hotel.
The newlyweds wrote to us:
We would very much like to take this opportunity to thank Martina from the bottom of our hearts for her exceptional care in handling the arrangements and the course of our wedding, right through to the final step of issuing the marriage certificate in Czech.
The wedding took place on 15 August 2019 in Cuba. On Martina’s recommendation we chose the beautiful Melia Varadero hotel, where we were superbly looked after from the very beginning. On the second day after our arrival we met the pleasant wedding coordinator Ana Marys, who went through all the details of the ceremony with us – from the choice of venue, the music, the bouquet and the bride’s hair to the menu for dinner in the open air. At our request she even managed to arrange a magnificent old convertible for the photographs, so typical of Cuba. Together with a professional photographer, the sealing of a beautiful memory was taken care of.
The ceremony itself was flawless: recorded music was arranged, and although local guests were moving about, they did not disturb our privacy in the slightest; Ana arranged everything so that we could enjoy our day to the full for ourselves. By the pavilion we had chosen for the ceremony, which we would recommend to everyone, champagne and an excellent cake were prepared, which we were glad to share with our witnesses and the registrar.
The hotel had another lovely surprise in store for us, in the form of a filled bath after we returned from the romantic dinner, and a beautifully decorated room. The morning was lovely too, when a waiter knocked at the door of our room and brought a wonderful breakfast, which he served on the terrace. From there the view of the sea was absolutely perfect.
Throughout our whole stay we were not bored for a single minute; the day after the wedding we went by catamaran to see dolphins out at sea, we snorkelled, sunbathed and collected shells. To explore the parts of Cuba outside the hotel resorts we hired a scooter at the hotel and set off to see how people live here. We also took up the travel agency’s offer and went to see Havana; we were given an air-conditioned coach with a Czech-speaking guide. She advised us where and which rum to buy, which are the best brands of Cuban cigars, took us for an excellent lunch with live music and an unbeatable piña colada served straight in the crust of a pineapple, and we drove through parts of Havana in an old convertible. Then she took us right into the centre, where she negotiated a good price for souvenirs from the local sellers.
There are several themed restaurants at the hotel. As part of the wedding package, Ana arranged daily entry to one of them at an attractive early-evening time. One time we found ourselves in a Mexican grill house, another time in the Japanese Sakura, and on another occasion we savoured lobsters at the Lobster.
And the sea? Beautiful! With an indescribable greenish-blue colour, a gradual entry and a pleasant temperature. The whole experience is rounded off by music in a Latin rhythm and bars stocked with rum.
But our preparations, the wedding itself and the whole official completion of our marriage would not have been so smooth and pleasant without Martina’s assistance. You will struggle to find anyone here with such commitment and determination as she has. She knows her work perfectly and can deal with the authorities and with the hotel. After our return she still devoted her attention to us, took an interest in completing the whole wedding and legalising the ceremony in the Czech Republic, and arranged professional translations. From us she deserves enormous thanks!
