Wedding in Bali

Organizing a wedding in Bali can be a truly unforgettable experience and one of the most important days of your life.

Whether you’re dreaming of a simple romantic beach ceremony or a grand, meticulously planned celebration in a secluded spot on Bali, we’re here to help make it all happen according to your wishes and vision.

A legal wedding in Bali is possible for Czech citizens and will be valid in the Czech Republic. However, there are a few things you need to consider and arrange before traveling to Bali. Marriage in Indonesia must comply with the country’s laws, which means both partners must share the same religion or temporarily adopt one of the five state-recognized religions (Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist) for the ceremony. The wedding includes two parts: a religious ceremony followed by a civil ceremony. If you are atheists, we recommend choosing the Protestant ceremony, as it can be held anywhere (in a resort, on a beach, etc.) and doesn’t require additional documents or a church setting. The Protestant ceremony is the simplest, and since everyone in Bali is “expected” to be religious, a priest will be present. After the ceremony, you will receive two certificates: one from the “church” and one from the civil registry.

Our English-speaking wedding coordinator will take care of everything for you in Bali.

In Bali, you can have a legally binding wedding (subject to later confirmation), a symbolic ceremony, a vow renewal, an engagement, or a honeymoon.

Recommended Wedding Venues in Bali

Wedding on Balangan beach or cliff

This place in the south of Bali is absolutely superb. It sits on a hill overlooking the sea (on a lawn with a view of the beach). Because it is on a hill, you do not have to worry about the tides. We can of course prepare a wedding ceremony on Balangan beach below the cliff. We recommend weddings at sunset, when the light is very good for photographs and there will certainly not be so many people on the beach. Full sunset is between 18.30 and 19; the wedding ceremony starts between 16 and 17.

Wedding on Pandawa, Nyang Nyang, Melasti and White Sand beaches

These places in the south of Bali are easily accessible. We recommend weddings at sunset, when the light is very good for photographs and there will certainly not be so many people on the beach. On the beach it always depends on the tide; arrangements must always be made in advance.

Wedding on Jimbaran, Sawangan Beach or Nusa Dua

These beaches are busier and there are many tourists here. A livelier spot among the restaurants. On the beach it always depends on the tide; arrangements must always be made in advance.

Underwater wedding for divers

We can also arrange a wedding beneath the surface of the Balinese sea. We will lend you diving equipment, and it is also possible to hire wedding attire for both the bride and the groom. In the sea you will meet plenty of beautiful species of fish and coral. On the seabed lies black volcanic sand, which looks superb in photographs. The wedding reception will be prepared at the resort restaurant with a wide choice of dishes. We will prepare the wedding night in a decorated bungalow. Ideal for couples who love experiences.

Wedding in the north of the island – the village of Kubu, sandy beach, the Tirtagangga water palace

These places are well suited to diving and snorkelling. In the village of Kubu (next to Tulamben) the beach is stony (a black pebble beach), but the underwater life is all the more beautiful for it. You will not encounter mass tourism here. The nearest sandy beach where a wedding can be held is roughly 40 minutes from the village of Kubu. Another option is a wedding at the Tirtagangga water palace.

Country information

Indonesia is one of the most diverse countries in the world, made up of up to 17,000 islands (the exact number is uncertain) stretching over 5,200 km. It is the largest archipelago in the world. With over 220 million inhabitants, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country on the planet. The most well-known islands include Bali, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Sulawesi, and Lombok.

The population here is highly diverse—you’ll find both a modern, developed society and tribes living almost entirely untouched by modern civilization. Indonesia is an incredible mosaic of cultures and languages. Across the country, more than 400 languages are spoken.
Indonesia’s nature is equally diverse. Many regions remain completely untouched by civilization, while others have been heavily transformed. Along the coast, you’ll discover endless stretches of pristine white sandy beaches perfect for relaxation, while inland, dense rainforests, active volcanoes, and untamed landscapes call out for adventure.
Indonesia’s seas offer a stunning and varied underwater world, ideal for diving and snorkeling. Many endemic species of flora and fauna can be found here, attracting visitors from all around the world.

Bali

Rightfully called the “Island of the Gods,” Bali is part of a 5,000-kilometer-long chain of the Indonesian archipelago consisting of more than 17,000 islands. Bali lies 8° south of the equator in the Lesser Sunda Islands, between Java and Lombok. The island spans about 153 km from east to west and about 112 km from north to south, with a total area of 5,632 km². Its highest point is Mount Agung, an active volcano rising 3,142 meters above sea level, which last erupted in March 1963. Mountains dominate the island’s center and stretch eastward. Bali’s coastline offers 400 kilometers of stunning beaches washed by the Indian Ocean. The capital city, Denpasar, with a population of about half a million, is located in the southern part of the island.

Why Bali?

  • Bali is a place of romance and mysticism
  • Bali is a place of history and modern life
  • Bali is a place of enchanting nature—on land and underwater.
  • Bali is a place where you experience life in its most meaningful form.
  • Bali is a place made for both relaxation and enjoyment.

A holiday in Bali offers plenty of excursion options for you and your family.
Each trip and its detailed itinerary is arranged together with you according to your preferences. We’ll help you choose the perfect program. Air-conditioned buses and guides are always ready for your comfort.
We can organize surf lessons with a Czech instructor, guided tours of top-rated restaurants, cafés, and shopping centers, recommend golf courses, introduce you to traditional crafts and Balinese culture.
We also offer excursions, car and scooter rentals, Thai cooking classes, or any other additional services upon request – all available in the Czech language!

We recommend visiting:
Besakih Temple, Tanah Lot Temple, Mount Agung Volcano, Mount Batur Volcano, the Bird and Reptile Park, artisan workshops in Ubud, Pura Lempuyang Temple, tropical rainforest, the royal water palace of Tirta Gangga, “LES” Waterfall, the mountain lake Bedugul, white-water rafting, the Ubud yoga center, strawberry plantations, rice terraces, Uluwatu Temple, Monkey Forest, Gitgit Waterfalls, Denpasar (shopping, markets, nightlife), the Kecak dance performance, Mount Bromo (on Java), Bali Safari Park, swimming with dolphins, elephant rides, and several golf courses across the island.

You can travel to Bali by plane; the flight time from Prague is approximately 16 hours.

From March to November, Bali enjoys dry and relatively stable weather, making it the ideal time to plan a wedding or honeymoon. Daytime temperatures are around 30°C, and the sea temperature is about 28°C. We do not recommend planning a wedding in December or January, as this is the monsoon season in Bali, with a higher chance of rain.

Citizens of the Czech Republic and Slovakia are required to have a visa to enter Indonesia.
The visa can be obtained either at the Indonesian Embassy in the Czech Republic (we can arrange it for you) or upon arrival for a fee of approximately USD 35 per person.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from Indonesia.

Vaccinations are not mandatory for travel to Indonesia. However, for stays beyond typical tourist visits, vaccination against hepatitis A and typhoid is recommended.

Time difference: +5 hours during summer, +6 hours during winter.

Flights, transfers, accommodation, excursions and travel insurance are not part of the wedding package. We will arrange these services for you, tailored to your wishes (departure date, length of stay, departure airport, airline, category and standard of hotel, type of board, transfers, etc.)…
