Ischia is the largest and most famous island in the Bay of Naples, surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea, and is one of Italy’s most popular holiday destinations.

Ischia is of volcanic origin. Its highest peak, Mount Epomeo, is an inactive volcano that still shows signs of residual thermal activity.

There is no airport on the island of Ischia, so you’ll always need to travel there by sea.
All ferries to the island depart from the Naples area — either from the main ports in the city center or from the town of Pozzuoli on its outskirts.
